The launch of wholesale silver range Alias is part of a turnaround strategy at Theo Fennell, a brand better known for its high-end jewellery designs.

Northampton retailer Steffans has just signed a deal to stock Theo Fennell's first silver range Alia, Professional Jeweller can exclusively reveal.

The retailer is well known as a powerhouse of branded jewellery retail and latest signing Alias will sit next to a raft of other major brands in the shop including Stephen Webster, Shaun Leane, Pandora, Monica Vinader and Links of London.

Steffans owner Steff Suter expressed his delight at the partnership, adding that a range from Theo Fennell will help to strengthen the store's focus on British design.

Suter said: "For me stephen Webster, Shaun Leane and Theo Fennell are like the rat pack of the British jewellery industry, and now I have all three."

Steff Suter has described Bjorg as a blend of steampunk, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton with a twist of taxidermy.

Edgy jewellery brand Bjørg is teaming up with Northampton retailer Steffans in a bid to position itself as the next big brand in the UK.

The brand will now be stocked at Seffans but the team behind Bjørg have told Professional Jeweller that they are intending to work closely with Steffans boss Steff Suter to devise a strategy that will raise the profile of the brand in the UK, and have described Suter as “a mentor”.

Bjørg now has 60 stockists in the UK but is hoping to add at least another 10. The brand said that it is aiming to work with niche boutiques rather than multiple retailers, however it has just signed a deal with a major fashion retailer to collaborate on an exclusive jewellery collection.

Steffans is well known within the jewellery industry for stocking bestselling jewellery brands and said he is looking forward to the challenge of helping Bjørg to further establish itself in the UK market. He added: “Bjørg is a designer that I would call a bit on the dark side; a bit steampunk, a bit Johnny Depp, Tim Burton-esque with museum and taxidermy themes. I love the way the silver and use of off-colour rose cut-diamonds has an aged feel. I believe this brand is ready to go to market in the UK and that is why I’m in and will work closely with Bjørg to make its mark in the UK.”

KIMONO BEADS TO SUPPORT VICTIMS OF JAPANESE TSUNAMI

Fable Trading Ltd, sole distributor of Trollbeads original charm bead jewellery in the UK and Ireland, has announced a donation of 50p from the sale of each limited edition Trollbeads Kimono bead towards helping victims of the Japanese tsunami.

Fable Trading responded immediately to the disaster appeal following the massive earthquake which hit the east coast of Japan on Friday, 11^th March 2011. It will donate monies raised to ShelterBox, a Cornish based international disaster relief charity which provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters at the time when they need it the most. Created by Japanese designer, Nozomi Kaji, the beads are evocative of Japan, reflecting the colours and patterns of a traditional silk kimono. Each bead is priced at £26.

“We were very moved by the tragedy of the recent earthquake in Japan and wanted to do something positive to help the many thousands of people whose lives have been affected,” said Sarah Morfoot, managing director of Fable Trading.
