In cautious trading times it was said that all of the finalists had shown themselves to be daring, brave, creative and innovative in the ways they did business and gave exceptional retail service.

This independent retailer has recreated itself as a brand emporium and has achieved outstanding performance as a result. Steffans has an enthusiastic team and there is a 'tremendous energy' about this store. A prime example of a family run independent that would never rest on its laurels.

Steffans site was praised for being an accurate reflection of the store and its brands.
'A lot of thought and sensible investment to deliver a return has gone into this, when independents are having to work extremely hard' said one judge. 'Other retail jewellers can learn a lot from this site.'

Amongst the judges was Stephen Webster the leading British Jewellers in jewellery design, John Ayton a co-founder of Links of London and his wife Annoushka and Rob Johnson associate editor of GQ magazine.
